First finding of the surname is in Lothian where they seated from ancient times, some say well before
Norman conquest and the arrival of Duke William at Hastings in 1066 A.D.
Some of the earliest settlers were found in New England around 1800, Others arrived to the states and settled in Pennsylvania & South Carolina.
Our branch of the Gourley tree is first noted in South Carolina in 1819 with the birth of William Gourley.

Floyd J & Georgia A. Lumberg Gourley
Floyd J Gourley was the son of Velvia Parker & Roley Floyd "Ikey" Gourley Sr
Georgia A. Lumberg was the daughter of Effie Snow & Herman B. Lumberg

Floyd & Georgia married Oct 5, 1946 in Spencer Co IN
During thier marriage they became the parents to Sherra, Mike & Pam
Early in thier marriage they began a business raising turkeys
By the year 1952 they developed thier dream to a new endevour F J Gourley Concrete Contractor
When son Mike became older he joined the family buisness
The 1970's brought new ideals to the family when they
developed land in Warrick county into what is now Gourley Subdivison.
After Floyd's death in 1990 his wife & son continued the family business
Floyd J Gourley age 68 of Newburgh ,died Feb 27 1990 at St Mary's Hospital in Evansville,IN.
Georgia A. Gourley, 82, of Newburgh, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Floyd served in WWII a member of the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Cincinatti.
The family continues to grow with the addition of grandchildren,
Jeremy,Damian,Jordan,Paige,Caytlyn and Jeremy.

Velvia Parker Gourley & Roley Floyd "Ikey" Gourley

Velvia & Floyd "Ikey" had just one son before thier divorce,
Both remarried within a few years with
Roley Floyd "Ikey" and 2nd wife Geneva adding a son Jon Gourley to the family tree
Roley Floyd "Ikey" Gourley was the son of Lee M & Ada Royer Gourley

Velvia remarried Stratton HARMON and
was dedicated nurse's aide at Deaconess Hospital for many years before
her untimely death in 1970 as a result of a auto accident in Warrick County.
Velvia was the dau of George L & Olive Ely Parker
Stratton Harmon was the son of Jerome A & Belle Raibley Harmon

Ada Royer and Lee M Gourley
Ada & Lee M Gourley were the parents of
Lee Allen "Jack", Roley Floyd "Ikey", Alice, Harold, M Paul, Lorena, Forrest.

NOTE:LUMBERG also spelled in family records as LIMBERG,LEMBURG ect..
